Recommendation North Cyprus IVF

After our second visit in March 2014 to Northern Cyprus for our second attempt of IVF, our first IVF was with a different company in Cyprus

However, this IVF in March was outstanding cannot fault any of the staff, they were brilliant we were treated as individuals nothing was too much for the staff.

Their spoken English was brilliant including the Dr. Savas Ozyigit,   who tried to make me feel at ease in the Theatre on transfer day.

They have all been supportive, before and after transfer, sadly it failed but we will be back again to try, we felt like we were treated as people and not just a number like our first IVF try.

Our thanks go out to the Dr Ozyigit and  the theatre staff, and including Deedee for being there for my constant questions by email, and to Angie who nothing is and was too much for her, so thank you all, for your help and support.

I would like to say we met some wonderful people, and hope to keep in contact, see you soon for our next attempt.

What is the age limit for gender selection treatment?

There is no specific age limit for the gender selection treatment, but there is an age limit for IVF treatment. This is in relation to how likely you are to achieve success. If not using a donor, then we will want to make sure your eggs are viable and we have a shot at pregnancy with your own eggs. This is one of the reasons why we ask that patients undergo a series of testing for assessment of their fertility levels prior to proceeding with treatment. Based on these test results, we are able to form an opinion of how likely we are to obtain a good count and quality of eggs in an IVF cycle and how likely these eggs are to produce a healthy pregnancy. We try to emphasize that over the age of 35, the level of fertility tends to decline for female patients and that affects the chances of success with treatment. Over the age of 40, pregnancy rates drop dramatically and unless the patients have a satisfactory level of hormone profile that provides them with some chance of success, we recommend against treatment with own eggs.

Another Sweet Thank You!

Thank you so much for your email and sorry for the delay in replying my computer didn’t seem to want to send emails in Cyprus. I am now home having had my transfer on Saturday. One very good boy egg and another no quite so good put back ,so fingers crossed. Thank you so much for all your help and kindness throughout all of this. I have a progesterone test booked with my gyni this evening then I guess it’s the dreaded waiting !!
Angie was fantastic , and was great when I reacted rather badly to the anaesthetic ,not unusual  for me unfortunately.
You two make a great co-ordination team, nothing to much trouble and always there when needed and fantastic to have someone speaking English.

Thank you so much ,love

Sperm Donation

1- Who is a good candidate for sperm donation?
Patients with male factor infertility such as azoospermia or other sperm defects, or males with prior cancer treatment are potential candidates for sperm donor IVF treatment. Patients with genetic disorders that inhibit sperm production or patients with high risks of passing genetic disorders onto their children are also good candidates for sperm donation. Prior to sperm donation, we offer our patients the option of a surgical sperm retrieval option where sperm is retrieved surgically from within the testes to see if any live sperm cells can be found that may not make it to the ejaculate.
Single female patients who do not wish to seek treatment with a partner are also good candidates for our sperm donor IVF treatment program.

2- Who are your sperm donors?
The sperm we use come from an international sperm bank with their certificates. We only use certified sperm as certification process requires an extensive testing on the sperm to be repeated at certain intervals. This way, we can guarantee our patients that there are no testable defects on the sperm used in the IVF process.

3- What are your success rate with sperm donation?
Success rates with sperm donation tend to vary depending on the age and hormone profile of the female patient. If the female patient is young with a good hormone profile, then the success rates will be considerably high. However, women after 35 years of age tend to experience a decline in their fertility levels, therefore, the success rates tend to decline. For more information on our success rates, please view our 2011 success statistics page.

4- What is the cost of sperm donor IVF at North Cyprus IVF Clinic?

Egg Donation Program

Egg Donation IVF is the treatment method for women who do not have healthy eggs for conception. The following list indicates women who are ideal candidates for egg donor IVF treatment at North Cyprus IVF clinic:

- Women who are going through premature menopause
- Women who have had their ovaries removed and therefore do not produce eggs
- Women who have undergone cancer treatment and have damaged ovaries
- Women who were born without functioning ovaries (Turner's syndrome)
- Women with poor ovartian reserves
- Women with hereditary genetic disorders
- Women who have had multiple miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities
- Women who have had multiple failed IVF attempts with own eggs.
- Women who are menopausal.

Who Are Egg Donors at North Cyprus IVF?

Our egg donor base is consisted predominantly of international students studying at various universities in Cyprus. As a result, majority of our egg donors are between 20-24 years of age. This is precisely why our success rates are considerably higher than most of the IVF clinics in the world. Our egg donors are very young and most of them have previous positive donation histories.

In general, our egg donor selection criteria can be summarized as follows:
- women between 20-29 years of age.
- women with BMI's between 19-24
- women with no known hereditary genetic diseases in family.
- women with no mental disability
- women who do not use drugs and do not smoke

Our egg donors undergo a very strict screening process at our clinic before they are admitted to our donation program. All egg donors go through psychological counseling and numerous infectious disease testing as well as karyotype analysis.

Talk about Success Rates!

Talk about Success Rates!

It is important to remember that every single IVF patient is individual and different.

Realistic success rates for treatment can only be provided after the individual couple has been evaluated closely.

Our success rates are based clinical pregnancies with a 3 embryo transfer.
Unfotunately since we have many patients from abroad, it is often hard to keep track of each one. It is common for International patients to lose touch once the treatment is complete and they have returned to their home country.

Of course we are always available to answer any of your questions pre and post treatment.

There are several reasons for failed attempts and here are a few of them:

embryo arrest
tubal disease
low sperm count/ sperm defects
reduced endometrial receptivity
embryonic defects
thin endometrium
immunological factors
genetic abnormalities
endometriosis
hydrosalpinge
thrombophilia
difficult embryo transfer
high estradiol levels
poor ovarian response

Quote from the San Diego Fertility Center :
Another problem with infertility treatment success statistics is the way in which they are reported. Should we report pregnancies based on each attempted cycle or overall success after 3 months or 6 months of infertility treatment? Should "success" be defined as a (+) pregnancy test or a live born child delivered 9 months later? Even the fertility experts can't agree and the organizations that collate success rates have changed their definitions over time. The most commonly reported success rate is a "clinical pregnancy"

Since this is a medical procedure unfortunately there is no way of knowing in advance what the reason for failure could be.

Short FAQ about Post IVF Treatment

Question :

I just wanted to double check that I will be taking 2 x Progynova twice a day and Crinone Gel twice a day, plus the Pregnacare and junior aspirin once a day until we are at the 12 week mark. Once we get past the first trimester do we just stop the Progynova (Estradiol Valerate)  and Crinone Gel or do a gradual wind down? And carry on with the Pregnacare and junior aspirin throughout my pregnancy?

Answer :

Please keep taking the same dose of medication until week 11 and for the final week, go down in dose of Progynova and the gel and stop altogether on week 12. You will keep using baby aspirin and Pregnacare until week 36, a few weeks before delivery.

Please be sure to have your prescription before leaving the clinic and email us if you have any further questions.

Infertility Medications

It is necessary to take certain medications during the IVF cycle in order to prepare the body for the treatment. The instructions for each medication vary from patient to patient. Our Specialists at North Cyprus IVF will analyze your case closely to determine which medications to use, what dosage to take, when to administer the medications and how long to take them.

GnRH Agonists - Lucrin, taken as an injection just below the skin and Synarel, a nasal spray, allow the body to produce a greater number of high quality eggs during the treatment cycle. They also prevent the midcycle hormonal surge that can result in the cancellation of a cycle.

Antagonists - Antagon and Cetrotide are antagonists of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) and are used to prevent premature ovulation. These medications are given by injection and the duration of treatment is usually three or four days.

Gonadotropins - Gonadotropins are taken as subcutaneous injections that provide stimulation to the follicles that contain the eggs during the stimulation phase. Gonal F, Bravelle, Follistim, Pergonal and Repronex are the most commonly used gonadotropins.

hCG - hCGs are taken as an intramuscular injection and are used to induce the final maturational changes in the eggs and prepare them for retrieval. The most commonly prescribed hCGs are Pregnyl, Ovitrelle and Choriomon.

Doxycycline - Doxycycline, an antibiotic administered in pill form, is given to the male partner during the wife's stimulation cycle to reduce the low levels of bacteria that may be found in the semen and which may compromise the performance of the sperm during an IVF cycle. It is also given to the female partner to reduce the risk of infection following aspiration of the follicles at the time of egg retrieval.

Progesterone - Natural Progesterone may be taken as a daily intramuscular injection beginning two days after egg retrieval and continuing until the placenta is making adequate amounts of Progesterone. Progesterone can also be given in the form of a vaginal gel or vaginal suppositories or pills (Prometrium).

IVF Failures

IVF failures are one of the most depressing experiences a couple can go through in their IVF journey. Having experienced several failed attempts can be very depressing and frustrating, especially when there is no explanation provided for them. At North Cyprus IVF, we make sure our patients are thoroughly analyzed before attempting another IVF cycle so that sone known possibilities can be ruled out. Some of the possibilities which need to be taken into consideration are as follows:

Uterine infection
The inside of the uterine cavity is normally considered to be a sterile environment. It has been strongly suspected that infection of the uterine cavity with bacteria may cause an inhospitable environment that would lead to failure of embryos to implant. In cases where there is a reason to suspect a uterine infection, an endometrial biopsy procedure may be called for in order to make an effective assessment. Normally, infections can be treated with antibiotic use. There are also other infectious diseases that can be considered during this investigation such as CMV IgG, Chlamydia and more.

Immune factors as a cause for IVF implantation failure
The immune system is designed to protect individuals from infection with microorganisms and to fight off abnormal processes in the body like cancer.  In the areas of IVF, infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, there has been an extensive amount of investigation as to the role of immune factors in the implantation process of the embryos. In some cases, the immune system is believed to see the embryo as a foreign object and reject its implantation.

Thrombophilias
Thrombophilias are conditions that result in an increased chance for blood clotting. There have been many studies showing an association between the presence of thrombophilias in women and the risk for miscarriage. Some studies also indicate that thrombophilias can also be associated with implantation failures. Certain genetic tests help identify the existence of thrombophilias in the female partner.

Egg Donation - Patient Testimonial

Hi,

Sorry I haven't been in touch with updates for a few weeks but we've had a quite stressful time and I've not been online much, but just to update you, I was officially diagnosed with a miscarriage last week at around 10 weeks.  We had never seen a heartbeat, the fetal pole was visible very late on and the measurements were weeks behind what they should have been, so we had a feeling all along that it would not be a good outcome.  It is still a shock and very upsetting when you're officially told, but we are coming to terms with that now and understand that 'this is nature's way'.

Would you please let the clinic know as I did have some correspondence from Dr Savas and he was quite hopeful that things would work out.

We'd also like to thank you and everyone at the clinic for all the help and support we received.  We were very happy with the treatment at NCIVF - unfortunately we were just unlucky.

We have to respect what we have lost - and be thankfull for what we have.

If we decide to have one last attempt at IVF early next year we will certainly contact you.

Many thanks to all of you

Best regards

A, R & A R.
