How do I begin treatment?

The first step in treatment is to gather all the necessary information, i.e. the test results mentioned above. One we have all the test results, we are able to identify the right treatment protocol as well as the precise dose of medication to be administered. Once you send us your test results, we will be able to provide our feedback and lay down all the options based on your unique fertility assessment.

At this point, we are able to map out your treatment calendar and issue your prescription. We work with an international pharmacy in the UK which delivers worldwide, so you will be able to order your medication online and receive them at your door. There are clear instructions on how to administer the medication as well as daily instructions of what you need to do on your treatment calendar.

Once you begin with the preliminary treatment, you will begin using your medication locally and you will need to visit your local gynecologist in order to observe your response to medication and reassess the dose of medication if necessary. These local scans can be done at your local gynecologist or scanning clinic. We work with a number of places in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Turkey, Germany, France, Holland and Spain for scans. Therefore, should you not have a local doctor, we may be able to recommend a place or two.

Egg Donation Program

Egg Donation IVF is the treatment method for women who do not have healthy eggs for conception. The following list indicates women who are ideal candidates for egg donor IVF treatment at North Cyprus IVF clinic:

- Women who are going through premature menopause
- Women who have had their ovaries removed and therefore do not produce eggs
- Women who have undergone cancer treatment and have damaged ovaries
- Women who were born without functioning ovaries (Turner's syndrome)
- Women with poor ovartian reserves
- Women with hereditary genetic disorders
- Women who have had multiple miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities
- Women who have had multiple failed IVF attempts with own eggs.
- Women who are menopausal.

Who Are Egg Donors at North Cyprus IVF?

Our egg donor base is consisted predominantly of international students studying at various universities in Cyprus. As a result, majority of our egg donors are between 20-24 years of age. This is precisely why our success rates are considerably higher than most of the IVF clinics in the world. Our egg donors are very young and most of them have previous positive donation histories.

In general, our egg donor selection criteria can be summarized as follows:
- women between 20-29 years of age.
- women with BMI's between 19-24
- women with no known hereditary genetic diseases in family.
- women with no mental disability
- women who do not use drugs and do not smoke

Our egg donors undergo a very strict screening process at our clinic before they are admitted to our donation program. All egg donors go through psychological counseling and numerous infectious disease testing as well as karyotype analysis.

Vitamins and IVF

Vitamins are an essential part of your treatment. It has been shown that folic acid supplements not only help you maintain a healthy pregnanyc, but also help with your baby’s neural development, therefore, it is important to start using folic acid prior to embryo transfer and continue using for the duration of your pregnancy.
Similarly, use of Vitamin C tablets (precisely, 500 mg) has been identified with increased quality of eggs retrieved, therefore, it will be important to use vitamin C supplements daily for at least 2-3 weeks prior to egg retrieval.
Finally, because your daily food intake may not provide you with all the essential nutrients, it will be important to use a prenatal vitamin complex prior to and throughout your pregnancy. Pregnacare or any other one-a-day prenatal vitamin complex will be useful.

Egg Quality

Many women do not realize the importance of egg quality when dealing with infertility. It is a factor that can effect the results and outcome of the IVF process.

The finite reserve of eggs in a woman are released during ovulation and can be fertilized to produce a child. Unfortunately, having a large number of eggs does not  mean that you will fall pregnant. The quality of those eggs are more important in the eventual development of an embryo.

In order for an embryo to develop,  the eggs need to have the correct chromosomes and the ability to fertilize with the sperm.  If the eggs do not have the proper chromosomes, it is not possible to achieve a successful pregnancy.

The female eggs contain mitochondria which is the energy in the eggs that allow it to split for fertilization. With age, the mitochondria produce less energy and stop the egg from dividing.

Apart from age, factors such as smoking, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and endometriosis can also have an effect on egg quality.

FSH testing is generally used to measure the quality of the eggs and a high level might indicate poor egg quality.

Please contact us for further information.

Tips for IVF Success

Even though each IVF treatment is different in itself, there are a number of measures that can be taken in order to maximize your chances of success. In some cases, things that might sound small could make a world of difference in IVF treatment. So let’s be on the safe side and do our part:

1- INITIAL SCAN: Have an ultrasound scan at your gynecologist’s office. This is to make sure there are no fibroids, polyps or free fluids in the uterus that could jeopardize your chances of success. Also, women who are not undergoing egg donor IVF treatment should make sure there are no cysts in the ovaries that could potentially affect their egg count/quality.

2- INVESTIGATION: If you have previously had repeated miscarriages (with or without IVF), it makes sense to investigate the cause. In most cases where women have repeated miscarriages, there is a genetic reason behind it. Some gene mutations affect your blood circulation and cause you to have a miscarriage (especially up to 12 weeks). These genetic tests include testing for mutations in MTHFR C677T, MTHFR A1298C, Factor V Leiden (G1691A), Factor II (G20210A), and PAI I 4G/5G. Similarly, women with repeated IVF failures should seek further investigation.

3- VITAMINS: It is important that your take essential vitamins and nutrients prior to and during pregnancy. A supplement such as “pregnacare” includes Folic Acid, B6, B12 and Zinc supplements, which are proven to reduce the likelihood of a miscarriage and support healthy development of your baby. It makes sense to start using such a supplement at least a few weeks prior to your embryo transfer stage. Vitamin C taken at certain doses has also proved effective in increasing egg quality according to various clinical studies.

4- HORMONE TESTING: For women undergoing IVF treatment using their own eggs, it is important that certain hormone tests are done prior to using any IVF medication. These hormone tests include:
FSH, LH, Estradiol Prolactine and TSH. For women over 35, AMH test will also be an important consideration. Based on these hormone test results, we will be able to assess your ovarian reserves and egg quality. Also, it these results will be important in identifying your treatment protocol and the dose of medication that needs to be administered.

5- IVF FAILURES: For patients who have had several failed IVF attempts, with no history of pregnancy, it makes sense to have an endometrial biopsy around days 18-21 of menstrual period. An endometrial biopsy will tell whether there is any condition that might prevent implantation and a successful pregnancy. There are also other infections that need to be checked for in this case.

6- INFECTIOUS DISEASES: Prior to embryo transfer, it is vital that certain infectious disease tests are done on both parents. The purpose of these tests is to make sure the newborn does not receive any infection from his/her parents. Some of these test are routine tests, which most of you do not have, such as Anti-HIV, Anti-HCV. These can be done at our clinic prior to embryo transfer. However, some other test results, such ac CMV IgG and Chlamidia might require the use of antibiotics for a certain amount of time prior to emrbyo transfer, therefore, it is important for the female patient to have tested for CMV IgG and Chlamidia once the IVF decision has been made.

7- AVOID STRESS: One of the biggest enemies of IVF treatment is stress. Avoid stress as much as you can when going through IVF treatment. You can take up yoga classes, or join the gym or start a book club, anything that will help you avoid stress will add a couple of percentages to your chances of success.

Egg Donation / Egg Donor IVF

Egg Donation Treatment Procedures
Egg (oocyte) donation IVF is the treatment option for couples with female infertility factor. In many instances, the female’s egg production could be insufficient, egg quality maybe poor or the age of the patient does not allow her to conceive with her own eggs. This option is also explored when the female is already in menopause and unable to produce eggs. In this case, a healthy egg donor is chosen and her eggs are used to fertilize with the husband’s sperm. The formed zygote is then transferred into the wife’s uterus. An egg donor is the person who donates her eggs to be received by another woman who is not able to become pregnant with her own eggs. An egg donor needs to meet certain criteria. Her body mass index must be within healthy standards and the acceptable age range for a donor is between 21 and 29. In order to ensure that a donor is physically, genetically and psychologically healthy for the donation, she has to undergo a number of tests.

Practically, egg donation IVF infertility treatment works very much like conventional IVF with the five step program, but only in this case, a young donor is selected to undergo the medication treatment. Once the donor's eggs are fully grown, they are retrieved to fertilize with the sperm. The rest of the steps are identical to those of IVF.

The female patient, who is undergoing egg donation IVF treatment, however, also needs to take certain medication prior to the embryo transfer stage to make sure that the uterus is fully prepared for pregnancy.

In egg donation IVF programs, we make sure that the donor's blood group is compatible with the couple who is undergoing this treatment. The female can also choose the donor based on certain physical characteristics such as hair, eye and skin color, education and work status and ethnicity. However, due to legal restrictions of Northern Cyprus, we cannot arrange for the patients to come in contact with their egg donor. Neither we are allowed to show pictures. The egg donor remains anonymous for the entire procedure.

The cost of egg donation IVF is slightly higher than conventional IVF since it requires the use of an egg donor. However, we are able to offer this treatment program at competitively low and affordable cost levels. For more information regarding the costs, please use the contact form.

There are frequent scheduled and charter flights out of England and other European countries to North Cyprus. More than 90 flights per week arrive at North Cyprus airport Ercan during the summer. There are 20 flights from three airports of London: Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. Most of them arrive in the evening. North Cyprus has direct air links only with Turkey, where all planes from Europe must first touch down. From Turkey, you can choose from a number of scheduled flights from Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Adana and Antalya.

Passport & Visa Requirements
The citizens of European Union (EU), Azerbaijan, Turkey, USA, Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Azerbaijan, Australia and New Zealand do not require visa. All other nationals should check their position with regard to passports and visas with the nearest Embassy or Office of Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Visitors who do not wish to have their passports stamped by the authorities on arrival in North Cyprus may request a stamped visa form which is loosely inserted into the passport and removed on departure.

Larnaca International Airport
It is also possible to arrive at Northern Cyprus via Larnaca International Airport. However, this would require some amount of travel (about one hour) to get to the crossing point to the Northern part of the island where there is further passport control at the check point. However, sometimes cheaper flights can be found flying to Larnaca Airport. We do provide complimentary airport transportation to and from both airports.

At North Cyprus IVF, we offer three alternative accommodation packages:
1- IVF Treatment + Accommodation at the Clinic’s guest house. The guest house is a newly finished luxurious 4-bedroom villa. Each bedroom is has its own TV, own minibar and own heating/cooling system. Two of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms, while the other two bedrooms have a shared bathroom. This option includes free airport transfers from the Ercan and Larnaca Airports and all ground transfers back and forth. All of your consults and sonograms are offered free of charge for the duration of your stay in Cyprus.

2- IVF Treatment + Accommodation at the 3-star City Royal Hotel in Nicosia (http://www.city-royal.com). This package includes your treatment fees, airport pick-ups from either Ercan or Larnaca Airports, ground transfers between the clinic and the hotel, 7-day hotel accommodation at the City Royal, including open buffet breakfast. Surrogacy IVF Treatment Options

We have two options when it comes to surrogacy arrangements.

1- CASS, short for Cyprus-America Surrogacy Services. This service uses an American surrogate to be recruited in the United States in one of the surrogate-friendly states. You will fill out an intended parent application form and we will be able to match you up with a surrogate that fits your criteria. Once your surrogate selection is confirmed, then our lawyers proceed with the contract preparation and the contract is sent to you to review and sign. The contract specifies all the rules of the surrogacy arrangement and includes pointers that protect both your rights as the intended parents and your surrogate's rights. The contract is backed 100% by the US legal system. Your donor is to be identified here in Cyprus based on your physical features, blood types and your surrogate's menstrual period dates. Once the donor selection is confirmed, then we proceed into the next stage where your donor and surrogate prepare for the IVF process simultaneously. Once the treatment is final, your surrogate travels back to the US and your child is delivered after 9 months. You arrive in the US to pick up your child, ready to be taken home with his/her American passport and registration papers.

2- CGSS, short for Cyprus-Georgia Surrogacy Services. This service works very much like the CASS option except that instead of utilizing an American surrogate, the surrogate comes from Georgia, the country. Our agency in Georgia handles all the legal work through the Georgian law. Donor stage is very much the same. The only difference between the two options is the country where the legal aspects are taken care of.

For more information regarding our surrogacy arrangements, please contact us.

Egg Donation (Donor Egg IVF) Questions

1- Who is a good candidate for egg (oocyte) donor IVF?
Women with severely depleted ovarian reserves, women with highly elevated FSH, women in early menopause or with removed ovaries and women who have been subjected to cancer treatment are all candidates for egg donor IVF. In general, egg donation is for women who are not able to produce any eggs that are viable for fertilization.

2- Who are your egg donors?
At North Cyprus IVF, our egg donors are predominantly composed of international university students aged between 20-25.

3- How are egg donors screened?
Our egg donors undergo a very strict screening process. First, there is a psychological consultation where egg donors' mental status are assessed. If an egg donor is found mentally fit, then there is a background check of family medical history. Once the medical history is assessed, then comes infectious diseases testing, CBC analysis and hormone testing for an assessment of ovarian reserves and egg quality. Only donors who are non-smokers and with healthy BMIs are admitted into our program.

4- Do I get to pick my own donor?
Absolutely! You will need to provide us with your menstrual period information, you and your husband's blood types and your physical features so that we can narrow list our potential donors and send you a list of profiles. However, for anonymity purposes, we are not able to share pictures or any contact information.

5- What are your success rates for egg donor IVF?
Our overall success rate including all age groups for egg donation in 2011 was 72.8%. For more information on our success rates, please view our success statistics for 2011.

6- How many egg donation cycles do you perform in a given year?
On average, we perform about 350-400 egg donor IVF cycles.

7- What is the cost of egg donor IVF at North Cyprus IVF Clinic?
For most accurate cost information for egg donation including our accommodation packages, please contact us using the contact form.

Our Egg Donation Program

Who are our donors?
Our donors are predominantly between the ages of 19-24, who are international students studying at Cyprus universities. As we have a large donor base, donor matching is a relatively fast process, hence the waiting times are not long. For donor matching, we need information like your blood types, your physical features, and possibly a picture so that we can provide you with a list of profiles who are best matches.
You will be provided information like, age, physical features, educational background, hobbies and interests as well as previous donation information. All of our donors undergo a very strict screening process where we do not only screen for infectious diseases, but also run a family medical background as well as HPV genotyping (which is only available at our clinic in the entire Northern Cyprus)

Where to begin?
The first step in treatment is to see your local gynecologist for an ultrasound scan (sonogram). This is to make sure that the female partner has no major fibroids, polyps in the uterus, or cysts in the ovaries, or nothing in general that can potentially interfere with a successful pregnancy.
The initial treatment is carried out very easily with a chart of treatment we will provide you based on your credentials. This chart of treatment will contain daily medication use, as well as a schedule for your doctor appointments. It will all be made clear once we know what type of a protocol to follow. Once we are able to provide you with a chart, then we can carry out the preliminary work through email and phone communication both with you and your gynecologist. Once the preliminary work is done, you will need to come to Cyprus for about 6 days. You will be expected to arrive in Cyprus around the 14th day of menstrual period.
We will need infectious disease test results before we can perform the embryo transfer here. You can either have them done over there or here once you arrive at our clinic. This is just to make sure we do not pass any infectious diseases onto the newborn.

Obtaining Medication and the Initial Treatment
We will be able to send you a scanned copy of your prescription once we see some test results and identify the right mode of treatment. You can use this prescription at the international pharmacy that we work with. The pharmacy is able to deliver worldwide, and does have reasonable prices.
With the medication you purchase, you will be able to have your preliminary work locally under our supervision and with guidance of your local gynecologist. By the end of this process, you will be required to travel to Cyprus for 6 days.

Traveling to Cyprus
Our clinic is located in Nicosia, North Cyprus. The nearest airport to our clinic is the Ercan Airport. All flights into Ercan Airport do go through one of the cities in Turkey, so there are no direct flights. The most straightforward route into Ercan would be to fly through Istanbul.

Another alternative is Larnaca Airport in the South. It is located approximately 60 km South of our clinic, and takes about one hour to travel. Sometimes, flights into Larnaca can be much cheaper depending on the season, so checking out both airports will make sense before booking your flights.
Transportation from both airports is complimentary.
