IVF with MicroSort® and PGD

IVF with MicroSort® and PGD
Gender Selection  IVF with MicroSort® and PGD works in two stages. First, the male partner’s sperm is sorted into those that produce male and female offsprings through the MicroSort® procedure. The microsort sperm is used to fertilize the eggs that are retrieved from the female partner’s ovaries at the end of the ovulation induction process. Then, embryos are placed in an incubator for optimal growth. Once the embryos reach the 8-cell growth stage (usually day 3 after fertilization), biopsy is performed where a single cell is retrieved from each embryo for diagnosis. This biopsy allows us to test for certain genetic conditions and determine the sex. Apart from the sex of the baby, we test chromosomes X, Y, 13, 18 and 21, which are the causes of almost 90% of all genetic-linked abnormalities, such as down’s syndrome. Our clinic is the only clinic in Northern Cyprus with an in-house PGD lab, so all our biopsies are screened within premises.

MicroSort® for gender selection with IVF treatment has a 90% accuracy for gender selection for a girl and 75% accuracy for gender selection for a boy. Regarding success rates, MicroSort® IVF has similar success rates to IVF treatment success rates. For patients seeking risk-free gender selection methods with 99.9% accuracy, then MicroSort® with PGD is recommended. This option allows couples to maximize the amount of embryos they have of desired sex where it also gives them 99.9% accuracy for gender selection as well as genetic screening.
